- Hi,thank you for your reply. After starting the Acer Crystal Eye application, this message appears: 'camera it's not installed or its being used by another program' !!!I know that the camera it's not installed. This is the problem !!Can you propose some solutions ?Best regards
- Have you checked 'device manager' to confirm the the hardware is at least being detected by Windows? If it's there, confirm that it is shown as 'working properly'.If it has a problem, try uninstalling the current driver and install the one from the Acer site.
- Unfortunately the hardware is not detected by Windows ! I have tried to uninstall the current driver and install the one from the Acer site, but it still doesn't work !!!
- I'm a little confused!
If your hardware is not detected by windows, you won't have a driver installed let alone be able to uninstall it.
Nor would Windows allow the installation of a driver for hardware that it considers not present.
It is not uncommon for Windows to flag a device by a generic name because it can't identify it.
Do you have anything in device manager that Windows considers has problems? - You are right ! In fact, drivers downloadable from the Acer site cannot be installed because the hardware is not recognized by Windows. I have used the Acer eRecovery Management application in order to restore original webcam drivers but after doing that, it still doesn't work !In addition, i have previously written that original drivers available from the Acer eRecovery Management application installed on my computer, are not the same that can be downloaded from the Acer site. In particular, these ones exhist only for windos XP and not for windows 7 Professional 64 bit that is my operative system !
- Seen this problem before. Rather than downloading the drivers try and download the crystal eye application and reinstall that. It's under applications in the same download page as the drivers.

- No problem. Just a side note, it's not impossible that your camera has physically disconnected from your devices mainboard. If my suggestion doesn't work I would suggest one further test before saying that's what's going on.You can always try to do a system recovery using the eRecovery tool you were using to reinstall the drivers. It's nice to be able to reinstall drivers from there but it's not always 100% effective. So basically you would have to backup any important data (music, videos, pictures, etc..) and then run the eRecovery option to do the restoration. It will completely wipe your system and you'll begin fresh. That way you eliminate any possible Windows issues. If not you can either contact Acer and arrange a repair or you can see a local tech to check the cable. But hopefully my earlier suggestion will help. Take care and best of luck!
- I'have tried to install the Chicony application downloaded form the Acer site but unfortunately an error message occurs: 'unrecognized camera' ! Pinnacle media center serial season.
- This likely means that the camera itself is no longer connected. To verify you can always try to do a system recovery. This process completely reinstalls Windows and erases all programs and personal data so if you do decide to try it please back up your files first. This will eliminate beyond any shadow of a doubt the possibility of a software issue. If you would rather not try a recovery I would suggest arranging repair. Here is a link for the recovery process, there is a way to do it from Windows, but this is just as easy. And it comes with a video to help. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631/related/1
